Professional Retraining Courses
Pursuant to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan PD-141, dated August 21, 2025, “On measures to radically improve the system of training highly qualified personnel in the sphere of justice,” the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established on the basis of the Supreme School of Judges under the Supreme Judicial Council. Following the objectives of the Decree, the Academy is systematically organizing a framework to train comprehensively developed, highly qualified personnel for the judiciary, equipped with modern knowledge and essential professional skills. The institution focuses on implementing specialized programs for judicial candidates, providing advanced training for presiding judges and court staff, and retraining judges in the reserve for leadership positions, with a primary emphasis on fostering a professional judicial culture.
The educational process incorporates interactive teaching methodologies designed to enhance professional skills for independent, impartial, and fair adjudication based strictly on the rule of law. Furthermore, the Academy prioritizes the cultivation of high moral and ethical qualities, the implementation of effective anti-corruption mechanisms, and the assurance of openness and transparency. A significant emphasis is also placed on developing practical skills in utilizing modern information technology and the potential of artificial intelligence within judicial practice. Training for judicial candidates at the Academy is conducted through six-month professional retraining courses in various judicial specialties, provided on the basis of state grants.
Professional Retraining Courses
Admission to the retraining courses is conducted based on the principles of equality, openness, transparency, and fair selection, ensuring the right of admission for applicants who achieve high scores in the entrance examinations.
Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who hold a higher legal degree, have at least seven years of work experience in the legal specialty, and will have reached the age of thirty-five by the conclusion of the course are eligible for admission to the retraining courses.
The professional activities of the following employees, whose positions involve the conferment of ranks or qualification grades, are recognized as work experience in the legal specialty:
- judicial assistants, heads of court registries and archives, consultants, and heads of departments and divisions within courts;
- responsible officials of law enforcement agencies, investigative bodies, and their affiliated institutions;
- advocates (lawyers), employees of legal services in state bodies and organizations, notaries and their assistants, and law professors at specialized state higher education institutions.
The applicant's professional work experience is calculated from the date of issuance of the higher legal education diploma or, if the diploma was issued in a foreign country, from the date of its official recognition (nostrification) in the prescribed manner.
Admission of applicants is carried out in the following judicial specializations:
- Civil;
- Criminal;
- Economic;
- Administrative
To apply for the retraining courses, applicants must submit the following documents:
- An application addressed to the Rector of the Academy, specifying the chosen specialization and the foreign language for the entrance test;
- A copy of an identification document (passport or ID card);
- A professional curriculum vitae (CV) in both printed and electronic formats;
- The original and a copy of the Bachelor’s degree in Jurisprudence (educational field: Jurisprudence; codes: 5240100 or 5380100) along with its transcript, or copies certified by the organization’s human resources department; if the diploma is nostrified, a copy of the recognition document (the original diploma will be returned to the owner after verification against the copy);
- A notarized copy of the work record (labor book), or a copy certified by the organization's human resources department, or an electronic copy with a QR code obtained via the my.gov.uz interactive services;
- A medical certificate (Form 086/1) confirming the absence of diseases or physical impairments that prevent the administration of justice, as per the form approved by Order No 16 of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 17, 2022.
The applicant is personally responsible for the correct formatting, completeness, and authenticity of the submitted documents.
Applications and documents may be submitted in written form to the judicial qualification boards of regional and equivalent courts or directly to the Admissions Commission.
The entrance examinations consist of four stages: psychological testing, foreign language proficiency tests (English, French, or German), specialized judicial testing, and a written exam followed by an individual interview conducted by an inter-agency commission organized by the Supreme Judicial Council.
